BRaK festival with international attendance
In the marvelous Pisztory palace tenths of independent publishing houses from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Ukraine will present their work – besides there is also a rich accompanying programe.
There are many readings, author meetings, exhibitions and discussions, theater productions and workshops taking place in the palace – with a special emphasis on children on the first of June. Children can learn how a book is being made, listen to Robo Roth reading Deep Sea Fairytales or travel around the world with czech guests Alžbeta Zemanová and Magdaléna Rutová.
Friday starts off in Pisztory palace with a Creative morning where you can meet special guest from Ukraine – Art Studio Agrafka illustrators (this year’s Bologna book festival illustrators winners) and Lvov literary festival organisator Grigori Semenchuk.
Music events are not to be missed at the festival. The warm-up night (May, 29 in KC Dunaj) will present Bratislava urban poets Kosa z nosa and Kolowrat from Košice. On Staruday you can see NE:BO:DAJ with their special guest J.B.Kladivo
A lot of different genres will be presented – fiction, poetry, drama, non-ficition and art critisism, comic books and books for children.
The presence of the City of Krakow – this year’s guest city of the festival, one of the seven UNESCO literature cities – is a good foundation for the festival’s future tradition.
